According to the latest report, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds will star in Spider-Man helmer Sam Raimi’s new movie about the infamous Bermuda Triangle. The project was attached to Sam Raimi over a year ago, but according to the report the filmmaker is moving forward production, which is expected to begin filming later this year.
The news regarding the untitled project first came out in February 2017, with Sam Raimi attached to helm the Bermuda Triangle project for Skydance Productions. But there wasn’t any official confirmation from the director or the production team at that time, and many assumed that the movie was halted in development.
But According to That Hashtag Show, the project is finally moving forward with Sam Rami as the helmer. Ryan Reynolds will play the lead role in the movie (a theoretical physicist) and the studio is in still search for the female lead, a naval commander named Vogel. Have a look at the plot details below:
When a massive submarine carrying nuclear weapons goes missing in the Bermuda Triangle, Commander Vogel enlists the help of Dr. Fisk (Likely Reynolds) a theoretical physicist, who while using his grandfather’s research opens a wormhole to reveal a mysterious island that is inhabited by anything lost in the triangle including Sharks, Vikings, and Nazis, in the hopes of finding the nuclear weapons.
The script comes from Power Rangers reboot writer John Gatins. Annihilation producers Dan Goldberg, David Ellison, and Don Granger will produce the movie and the shooting is expected to be completed in October. It’s also interesting to note that both Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. have Bermuda Triangle films in development and so we can expect a release date from the studio soon.
